The difference between the singles and doubles matchplay
Singles and doubles were played when tennis became invented in the 1600's. Ever since then, it took on a whole new meaning. Singles matchplay became a competitive game with mental toughness and agility. "By exercising, your heart rates gets stronger so you can work longer and harder," Rachel C.
Given encouragement by family members, the player feels supported. "Family support is everything, and helps significantly," Joanna P. When playing doubles, one may find it easier because they can rely on another person to help them win the point. It helps when someone has someone else that can work together with.
Having a partner also helps win points and matches because by giving a teammate support and saying good job when they hit a shot, they can catch the other team off guard. It throws the other team off if the doubles teammates have mini meetings after every point as well. "In doubles, there is more action up at the net," Lori M.
People do think that doubles is easier to play, "The ball has a less chance of being missed a player because there are two on one side," said ninth grader Josh C. With doubles, pressure can slip away on each player since they must perform as a team.
Singles provide a challenging game for an individual player. Single players must protect the base line and the net. They also must stay on the balls of their feet because they cover more of the court.
